Public Safety

There are uniformed City of DeWitt Police Officers on duty within the grounds of the Ox Roast during the entire 3-day event. If you have the need for a police officer and cannot readily locate any of the assigned officers please call 9-1-1. Clinton County utilizes 9-1-1 for both emergency and non-emergency calls. In Clinton County the 9-1-1 dispatch center can be reached by using any cell phone.

A public address system is located at the southwest corner of Bridge and Main St. in the area of the DeWitt Lion’s Club trailer. We would recommend that attendees develop a plan with family members that would include where to meet in the event that they become separated.

A medically trained firefighter is also assigned to the event and is generally stationed for response at the intersection of Main and Bridge.

Handicapped Parking for this event is provided for at the Memorial Building located 210 W. Washington. Those vehicles parking in the handicapped area must display a handicapped sticker or license plate. Violators will be subject to a ticket and/or vehicle impoundment.

Skateboarding and riding of bicycles are strictly prohibited within the grounds of the Ox Roast. Within the Ox Roast event bicycles must be pushed and skateboards must be carried.

Except in the designated area the consumption of alcohol is prohibited.
The DeWitt Ox Roast is a well organized wonderful family event. Please come and enjoy the activities, the food, the parade, and the many scheduled events. As always we ask that you do so with the respect and consideration of all other attendees.

Sincerely,

Larry Jerue
Police Chief
City of DeWitt
